Picture #1: I've been a teacher for 23 years at Grand Haven Christian School. This was the first school I taught at after graduating from Calvin College. I feel so blessed to be a part of a wonderful staff and to be surrounded by supporting, loving families. Although I have a long commute, I wouldn't consider teaching anywhere else! When I'm not at school I love to attend art festivals and fairs, and go to the theater. I also love reading and going out for dinner.
My husband's name is Doug. He works for Macatawa Technology. It has come in quite handy to be married to a "techie". One of passions is riding his bicycle. In previous summers, he rode across the state of Iowa as part of RAGBRAI. When he's not cycling he also loves to work on his laptop, read, and watch science fiction shows.
Picture #2: Meet Watson, aka Watty or Watty Bear. Watson was adopted from a shelter on Airline Road called Noah's Project. He made his way onto our laps quickly and into our hearts as well. Watty loves to climb all over the place and loves meeting anyone who comes to our house too! Besides playing with his brothers Yoshi and Jack, he also loves drinking water from any running faucet. You can often find him sleeping on my hip at night or curled up by my feet.
Picture #3: Here's Yoshi, aka Yosherdoodles. Yoshi was also adopted from Noah's Project shortly after Watson. We like to joke that they are brothers because they love to be with each other and can often be found giving one another baths in the condo. Yoshi is our greeter who is always by the door when we get home. Yoshi has an incredible purr that sounds like a pigeon cooing if he really gets going. He loves his Temptation treats and always spends time on Mr. Terborg's chest every evening in bed and every morning too.
Picture #4: This is Jack, aka Giant Jack or Jackelope. He is quite the giant, but don't let his size fool you. He's our gentle giant who is afraid of everything and everyone. He can be found on the ottoman nightly and loves it when we put the ottoman in front of an open door for him to feel the breeze! He is a great snuggler and will make a sound more like a puppy bark than a meow when he wants you to pick him up.
Picture #5: Finally we come to Gretel aka Gretel Sue or Princess. We have had Gretel our whole marriage. She was found wandering along a road in Ionia weighing in at 1 1/4 pounds! Since then, she's put on a few more pounds, but being a lady we shall not divulge her weight. She likes to fight with Yoshi and has been known to win quite the few smackdowns! She also likes to find zip ties and will hide them various places like under the rug in the living room so she can come back later and play with them. Windowsills are a favorite place to nap.
Picture #6: I'm sure you all wondered what a condo looks like for a cat, right? Here's one of my favorite pictures of Yoshi and Watson in the second floor of their condo! :)
